About

It all started when…

Shortly after graduating from the University of Texas (Hook’em!) and marrying my husband and best friend, Daniel, we moved to Nashville for his job. I landed what I thought would be my dream job - working in event planning and athletics at Vanderbuilt University.

Shortly after, I realized my need for more of a creative outlet. I started setting up a booth at the Nashville flea market selling painted furniture and upcycled home decor. One month at the flea market, I met a girl who would soon become a dear friend and business partner. Together, we dreamed of opening a storefront. We found a literal hole in the wall and worked over the summer of 2012 to bring our dream to life. Southern Honey Workshop opened in September of 2012 and I was able to live that dream until my husband’s job moved us back to Texas in 2014.

The move back to Texas was incredibly hard leaving the store and all the work we had done. It was, in a lot of ways, my first baby before I had babies of my own! It was a really fun season of life. We would spend our weeks picking (hunting for furniture and smalls to upcycle or resell), fixing up pieces we had found, staging and working at the store. It was a lot of work, but something I looked forward to each day.

Back in Texas, I continued painting furniture and selling our line of furniture paint to retailers across the country. Daniel and I also bought our first home - an 80s fixer upper, complete with wallpaper on every square inch and country blue countertops and carpet. We moved in and immediately got to work and over the next 7 years - renovated and made it ours.

This process of remodeling and picking new finishings fueled my interest in design.

Our first home was also the place where we welcomed our two sweet adventure loving boys (Luke 6 yo) and (Beau 4 yo) and where I was promoted to my favorite job of all- Mama.

In 2018, I took a volunteer design gig remodeling bathrooms at our church and shortly after took my first paid design job helping design a whole house remodel. Both of these jobs gave me valuable experience that solidified the decision to pursue interior design. I love working with clients to decorate spaces, pick finishings for their remodels and make their homes into the welcoming place they envision.

In the spring of 2021, we moved out to a home on some land that reminds me more of where I grew up in East Texas (The Piney Woods- the place that inspired the name “Pinewood”). We are enjoying the slower pace of “country living” with Hank the birddog and four Babydoll sheep (Winston, Masie, Wilbur and Eleanor) that we welcomed to the family earlier this year.

This fall I hosted my first event in the barn on our property, Pinewood Market. It included shopping the barn for vintage finds, home goods, and gifts, several other local vendors and a food truck. We look forward to hosting more of these events in the future so stay tuned and follow us on social media for updates!
