Choo-Choo Two-Two! A Train Inspired Birthday Party

Our little Beau turned TWO in early March and we celebrated him with a train themed birthday party! My boys love playing with and building trains together and I’m just a sucker for a good classic theme. There also happens to be this great little green space (pictured below) in our city that was the perfect backdrop for the occasion!

The Webb House was recently renovated and is going to be available to rent as an event space later this year. I called the city and they were so gracious in saying that we were welcome to use the outside space as we pleased at no cost. The bright red boxcar is so fun for the kids to climb on and explore. (See my IG post on the Webb House for some history behind it!)

eau’s birthday was sandwiched in between a couple of other events I was working on and us going out of town so I knew I wanted to keep things pretty simple. My only purchases for the party were the black and white striped table runner from Hobby Lobby, the favors, and food.
The menu consisted of:
-Veggie cups with Ranch dressing
-A summer sausage, cheese, and cracker platter
-Popcorn
&
-Cupcakes from Sam’s
(these are so hard to beat for the taste and cost!)
I always order them white on white or half chocolate with white buttercream and add my own sprinkles or toppers. This time I simply added red sugar sprinkles. Every time I plan a birthday party, my hubby’s main concern is if we have enough Sam’s cupcakes for leftovers… they ARE that good!

This little electric train is one that my parents bought and keep at their house for the boys when they visit so I borrowed it and set up a half circle of track to go in front of the cupcakes on the food table.

Oh my goodness, y’all… are these not the cutest little jars?! Martinelli’s has been around since 1868 and makes the best apple juice I’ve ever tasted! I love the classic, vintage look of these and knew I wanted to use them at the party. The glass minis are harder to find but my friend and I hunted some down at our nearest HEB. Btw… DFW can we go ahead and put in an HEB or two? Pretty please!

For the favors, I wanted to do simple wooden trains! My sweet daddy never ceases to amaze me. Anytime I think of something I want built or made out of wood he is my first call. His “yes” is simply “get me a picture” and its as good as done. I made a pattern for the body of the train and Dad was on it! He had these cranked out faster than amazon shipping and I love how they turned out!

I love party favors so I put these little bags together to go along with the wooden trains. They each had a conductor’s hat (Oriental Trading) , bandanna, and train whistle (both from Amazon).

On the day of the party, I did not have my nice camera on me but was so happy that I was able to get some good shots of the birthday boy on my phone! These little overalls were hand me downs from brother and I know I’m biased but I just can’t… I mean a baby in overalls with red Keds… ALL the heart eyes!

We had so much fun celebrating our favorite two year old with family and friends and are so grateful for everyone who shared this special day with us!

And finally, a BIG thanks to hopeandarrow on Etsy for these precious invitations! They have so many beautiful designs!

Thank y’all so much for reading my little blog!
Lots of love, Ashley
