5 Minute Lemonade Stand
School may be starting back but summer is still in full swing here in Texas and that means one thing… it’s H-O-T so naturally I would plan a garage sale… ehh…great idea, Ash!? Last week I had a purge fest going through closets and drawers and ended up with a pile too big to just quickly run to Grace, the donation center we like to support nearby so I decided I’d stick a sign out and see what happened. We have recently started teaching our 3 year old son about earning money to save for things he wants to buy by doing odd jobs here and there so I thought he would think it was pretty cool to have a lemonade stand at our garage sale to try to earn some money!
The day before my sale, I quickly scanned Pinterest for lemonade stand ideas because if you’re doing a lemonade stand its got to be good lookin’, right?? I saw several ideas using wooden crates so I ran a google search and found some at Michael’s that were in stock near me. I also discovered that they had a coupon for 40% off your ENTIRE purchase if you bought online and picked up in the store as opposed to the usual 40% off one item which made them cheaper than anywhere else.
When it came to assembly, I wanted the stand to be sturdy but also wanted to be able to easily take it apart to make storing it hassel free. I put the entire stand together using only zip ties and could not believe how solid it was! See the photos near the end of this post to see where I placed the zip ties. I already had two 4′ dowel rods on hand that I also zip tied to the back of the stand near the outer handles. The dowels held the banner that I made using scrap cardstock but they could support your choice of decoration or a sign.
Supplies: 4 wooden crates (all same size) – (2) 4′ dowel rods – zip ties at least 8″ long – your choice of banner or decor! That’s it! Easy Peasy, right?!
I’m so glad we decided to throw this little stand together. Little man had the best time and got involved in the whole process from helping with the stand to making lemonade. He was such a great little salesman and his “business” kept him entertained and engaged for the entire sale! Right when we started he asked, “Mama, would you like some lemonade?” so I said “I’d love some” and he said, “Do you got some money, Mama?”! No free rides for family connections here- ha! But anyways, I was so surprised with how quickly it came together and love that this little stand is something we can use over and over again! If you decide to put your own stand together, I’d love to see your pics and be sure to tag #5minutelemonadestand!
